The 'Monsoons' Have Arrived!

I took this photo right a sunset. It occurred to me that if I had painted this landscape on canvas, viewers might presume that I had exaggerated the cloud formation. The height of the clouds extended beyond the range of the lens but what can be seen is still ample fodder for imagining various fanciful figures within them. What do YOU see?

The arrival of the 'monsoon' season (a relative term in the desert) is now bringing heavily overcast skies in the afternoon and evening with some possibility of rain. Even if the clouds bring no rain with them, their shade from the piercing sun offers a welcome drop in temperatures and perhaps a cool breeze. We sat out in the mostly finished addition yesterday and enjoyed the coolness of the moment which entered through door openings yet to be addressed. Accordingly, there is little incentive to rush into enclosing this retreat from the heat. Bring on the rain!

Hi lin. I stared and stared at your great photo. I just want to know if you are really that close to a volcano?
The other things I see I can't mention in polite society.

Suck it in while ya' can, don't take a "mental-giant" to figure out it's only temporary!

Ya' sure it ain't smoke from all the wildfires, around there?

Lin: the most obvious is the angel in the middle toward the right hand side. Also the bear just over her head.

Cat, amazing bit of height to that formation, isn't it? Is it a volcano or just a vista so wide that we can see the hot air rising from the state capital from here?

Bruno, it's only supposed to last less than a month so we're out there doing rain dances at every possible moment. Then again, last year, it just kept goin' and goin' and goin' like the Energizer Bunny. Great for the grass, tough on going to get groceries and supplies though.
Yes! We've been getting smoke from those wildfires, too! The canyon was all blue haze the other day. This morning, I swore I could even smell the smoke, (though I don't have any sense of smell left) but it was just Mark burning the garbage and the poop du jour. That'll get your attention pretty quick even without a decent sense of smell.

Alphonse, I saw that lady, too, although she reminded me more of the critter on the old U.S. dime, the one flitting around with a torch (I think ... but, of course, my memory is shot). Then again, maybe I am thinking of Mercury but without the rack, sigh.
And I could have sworn it was a moose over her or his head ... just yanking a moose's chain again.

You leave my "Chain" alone, ROFL

I see Cupid and Psyche holding hands and flying.

I mean Cupid and Venus (not Psyche). Never mind. The clouds have changed.

Hey, how come we've ended up with all your rain? Take it back, we're done!

Maybe it's just me, but I see that Brittania chick in there, sure is a cool pic.

magnificent photo.

I see winged victory, only this time with her head, unlike the Louvre version.

Babzy,
At first I thought you meant that you saw Mark and I in the clouds but realized that I had misread your comment as "Cupid and Psycho". Venus definitely boots me out of the formation, too.

FHB,
I should have known that you would see butts in there somewhere! So I got to looking again and came up with TWO! We once had a basement wall made of big round boulders and it had that same effect on visitors ... they kept imagining buttocks staring back at them.

Shrink,
Seems like everyone is getting OUR rain. Please drag it with when you head over.

Yes, Britannia! Ohhh, I do LIKE that one!

Phlegm,
You MUST be seeing the same figure that I was calling Mercury or Moose and FHB's angel or Babzy's Psycho ... err ... Venus or Shrink's Britannia. It's very comforting to know that I am not the only one seeing a specific figure in that formation. Either we are all sane or insane in similar ways but good company is everything.

Yes, in good company. I don't mind a bit!

I see a woman, arms outstretched and her hair going out in different directions. I also feel very FHBlike when I say, I see clevage just above the mountain tops....

Gorgeous pic, regardless of what shape it is;)
