Our St. Valentine's Wishes

.
To make up for yesterday's brutal tour of plumbing joys, I will let the photos do most of the talking today.
.
.
An old copper heart in the wild
.
.
A cookie cutter, its shadowy admirer
.
.
Just goes to show that you can find yourself atop a rusty old burn barrel and still find serenity

Happy St. Valentine's wishes and love from all of us out here at the ranch to all our wonderful blog friends and readers!

And a Happy V-Day to you and yours, Lin!!

(I'll save the "humbug" stuff for my place...)

Warmest wishes on this chilly Valentine's day.

I love the way the copper is complimented by blue backgrounds.

Thank you, Mushy! It was great to hear from one of our favorite Valentines!

Buck, I know you're not THAT much of a humbug or you would have wished us a Happy V.D. or nothing at all.

I'll be over tonight to see just how humbug you're feeling today.

Craver, I'm not worried about that warm heart of yours cutting right through the cold up there.

If you liked that copper and sky blue combo, you'd LOVE the southwest. Blues from turquoise to deep blue sky and warm coppery, earthy hues are EVERYWHERE down here. I kid you not.

Lin,

Oh thank you for our Valentine's pictures! I like the hearts and the cupid ... very cool. But that New Mexico BLUE SKY is like the icing on the Valentine's cake ... the best of all!

Happy Day to you and your love.

Back at ya big sis. Those are beautiful shots, and sweet sentiment.

Happy Valentines Day to you both Lin.
The first photo is really beautiful. You need to turn the horse shoe over so the luck doesn't run out.

Lin said...

Towanda, does that mean I'm forgiven for the gross-out plumbing tour yesterday?
I just knew you'd love that NM blue sky!

Lin said...

Thank you, Babzy! I bet you're having Colonel Mustard over for a romantic dinner!

Lin said...

Thanks, FHB. Hope you and D have a GREAT evening lined up!

Moose, we always had a debate at home about which way the horseshoe was supposed to face. Someone finally convinced Mom that luck was light and might drift up and away unless you held it down with the horseshoe.
Maybe I need to turn half of the them up and half of them down just to cover all the bases.

Happy Valentine's Day! What an amazing adventure the two of you are having!

All the old gray wood, barbed wire and rusty horse shoes are familiar and fond memories of my growing up years on a farm.

If my dad were still alive, doing what you are doing would have been his heaven on earth. It makes me smile.

I love that first picture. Hope you had a lovely Valentine's Day.

Lin, I'm a little overwhelmed with the skywatch responses. I always wanted a bunch of comments, but how do you respond to all those folks?

The image you use with your cat... was it stalking the cactus? :-)

Lin said...

Am'n, go figure, I replied last night but it disappeared.
I am so glad that the photos brought back good memories for you, too. The presence of this worn old stuff gives me a great sense of comfort as well. It somehow tells me that it has survived this long on its own and that I don't have to imbue every moment with concern to make that happen. It's sinking in slowly but effectively - and I LIKE it!

Lin said...

Goddess, I hope you and Mr. G had a great Valentines, too! I should have wondered over there last night but at least I can catch up on your day's events tonight. This generator time sort of limits me in most aggravating ways at times.

Craver, ohhh, that's a tough one to figure out because it boils down to such a personal level in the end. This is just my own personal approach: I am so thrilled that someone would take that extra few minutes to comment that I insist on replying to each one individually. Well, that and some old Victorian etiquette handed down from Mom's side (but times are changing). You're in the same boat as I since you are on slow dial-up and it DOES take some time to do. The other approach I've seen that is efficient and yet still polite and appreciative is writing just one comment reply and addressing everyone by name briefly with a short personal acknowledgment.
I also go over to their blog and leave a comment later. Figure out what you would like done unto you at least as a minimum and just do it as time allows.

I've been thinking about changing that image AGAIN but that is Ming. He's more in the process of stalking me but wisely avoiding that spiky old cactus in the process. He's a very wise and cautious critter - wish I had more of his native sense.

And to you to dear lady, aswell as the old boy and the animals.

Lin said...

Thank you so, Alex. I'm hoping that Valentines in Bendigo was a little more exciting than out here in the old farts' canyon!

What great photos. Valentines was a big bust here in the old midwest, but the pictures certainly made me smile. Better than any card.

"Just goes to show that you can find yourself atop a rusty old burn barrel and still find serenity"

Brilliantly stated, and by golly, I intend to!

Happy belated Valentine's to you, too, honey! You're a real sweetheart. Loved the photos.

Lin said...

LinM, oh yeah, I got that impression about Valentines being a bust in your neck of the woods. Thing is, it wasn't that great out here either but I'm finding that even a bust out here is WAY better than a half-decent one in the Midwest. Maybe it's being connected to the Great Lakes but whatever it was truly sucked. You need to head out this way again.

Lin said...

Phlegmmy, if I've met anyone who can defiantly achieve that state of serenity amidst adversity, I know it's gonna be you! You kick such serious butt ever so consistently.

aw, shucks, lin -- you're too sweet to me! :)
